Obituary of Carl Jared MacIntosh

Please share a memory of Carl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With great sadness, we, the family of Carl Jared MacIntosh, announce his passing on, Sunday, June 16th, 2024, at St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish.  Carl was born in Lorneville, Cumberland County to the late Harold Jared and Kathleen Luella (Fields) MacIntosh.

Carl was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years Carol. Leaving to mourn are his children Grant (Liz), Stewart (Maureen), Jennifer (Danny) Lee, Jane (Hugh) Hamilton, Sarah (Jerod Currie) and special daughter Myrtle Myers. Grandchildren Harley, Katy, Daniel, Ainsley and Samantha. Sisters Hope Wright, Bertie Ehler, Luella Zwicker; brother Floyd Grady; sister-in-law Verna MacIntosh and many special cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son Ian Alexander;  brothers, Keith MacIntosh, Frederick MacIntosh, sister, Karen (late Joe) Dort; brother-in-law Earl Wright.

Carl worked hard his entire life and had many different jobs from CN Rail and Good Year Tire in his early years to finally settling in his beloved Port Shoreham and focusing on running his own business cutting pulpwood, firewood, general trucking and contracting garbage collection with the Town of Mulgrave for nearly 30 years.

Carl had strong faith in his creator and was an avid vegetable gardener, planting enough potatoes, carrots and turnip to see him through each winter. He had little time for idle hands unless it was playing crib or poker with his life long friends. Sunday nights in Port Shoreham will never be the same.
