We have many fond memories of Carl whether in Kennebunkport or in Nova Scotia. We were blessed to have spent time with Carl, Carol and our extended Nova Scotia family during our trip to Port Shoreham in 2019. A special time it was to be able to visit with all on the shore and to dig for clams against the setting sun! We will hold Carl close in our hearts.
With Love,
The Burne Family

Uncle Carl was a special uncle who will be greatly missed. He is present in many of my earliest memories, he is there as a constant in decades of Nova Scotia visit memories and lastly, I will treasure the memory of his recent (March 2024) visit to our home in BC.
Uncle Carl always took time to seek us out during our brief visits to Port Shoreham. He readily welcomed our family into the extended MacIntosh family thus helping us to feel connected despite living so far away.
Conversations with Carl were always interesting, as he could intelligently discuss many topics from boats and old trucks to business, world travel and human nature. And there was his great stories and sense of humor.
I especially think Carl had a special gift for appreciating and not judging the uniqueness of the many different kinds of people he encountered in life.
Our next visit to Port Shoreham will not be the same witout him. He will be dearly missed.
Condolences to his immediate and extended family and to all those who loved him.

I want to express my sincere condolences to the MacIntosh family on the recent passing of Carl. Carl was a wonderful person who always had great stories to share with me and my family. He was always so accommodating and friendly and this went back generations. He was great with my grandfather, my mother and my brother. We always looked forward to renewing our friendship with him (and Carol) when we visited Port Shoreham every summer. It won't be the same at the beach without seeing Carl fixing something at the beach house or operating an old tractor on his property or walking back from the garden with some vegetables. It was always a pleasure to be in his company.

Our deepest sympathy to all the family on the passing of Carl.
He was a wonderful loyal friend, there when you needed him and ever available to call and check in to see how things were. The way he helped Bob out when he broke his leg by taking him for numerous appointments or just by dropping in to visit and have a game of crib. most of which he won with a chuckle. Bob still has the $5.00 bill by the crib board in the garage that Carl won but he didn't have time for Bob to go to the house to get it. So here it remains and that was their last game.
Carl was very caring and concerned this past while about me as I work my way through my battle with cancer and this despite the fact that he was having his own medical issues. What a man. Loved to talk to him and he was a good communicator - with a true sense of how to listen.
He spoke highly of Carol and his family so it was evident he was very family-oriented.
We shall miss him greatly. Our sympathy to all of you.

We were so blessed to enjoy a visit with Carl and Carol and many of our N.S. Cousins a few years ago. I hadn’t seen Carl since I was a kid and he immediately had some fun by reminding me not to put our little camper below the high tide line. Later Carl took my brother Dan and I out on the clam flats to show us where to dig. We were laughing at ourselves for having difficulty keeping up with him. Our Dad, Jim Burne, always spoke with great pride of his Canadian cousins. Carl was the closest in age to Dad and they shared many great memories. My brother Dan took this photo of Dad and Carl during our visit. God Bless Carl and Carol and our deepest condolences to all their wonderful family. - John and Kathy Burne

Sending my condolences to Carl's family. I worked with Carl many years ago at CN.
When Karl travelled to Bedford to visit family he always dropped by my home to visit me as well as my wife Carol. I really appreciated his visits and kindness. We had a nice visit not that long ago.

Carl will be so missed by so many, he was a man with a quick wit and great sense of humor. You never left Carl without a smile on your face and a chuckle.
My favorite of his sayings was, "Gee your smart, your almost as smart as Shawn's dog"
Carl and Carol had the biggest hearts and will be so missed by family and friends.
In the words of Winnie The Pooh, "How Lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard".
Hope you find some crib players in heaven. Rest easy.

To Carl and Carol’s family, Carl’s siblings, cousins and friends.
We are sorry for your loss and share your grief. Carl was special, one of a kind .
He was always so welcoming. He’d greet us with a huge hug, a big smile on his face and his blue eyes twinkling.
We’ve had so many memories and good times with Carl, Carol and the many family members.
There was a wonderful family reunion which culminated with a beach fire. The beach fires were always fun.
We’re sharing this photo of Carl with one of his famous beach fires. We loved this wonderful man and are so sad to have to part with him. He’ll always be in our hearts. With love and sympathy, Jim and Sandy Burne

Remembering Carl, whose wisdom and wit were as boundless as his optimism. A man of adventure, humor and undeniable intelligence; he had a knack for making any situation brighter. His passion was contagious whether in deep discussions or working hands-on in the woods. Anchored by family and matchless kindness, he offered us all an example of what it means to fully live. We continue on bravely in his honor, infinitely enriched by the profound connection we shared with him. I/we reflect gratefully on Carl’s life and our hearts are warmed.

We were all so sad to hear about the passing of Uncle Carl. Although I didn’t get down East much, he was always there to with his gigantic hugs whenever we arrived and a bucket full of vegetables from his garden. I don’t think I have ever met a gentler giant than Carl, and his hugs are something you don’t forget. Carl had such a kindness of spirit that doesn’t come around often — both Uncle Carl and Uncle Keith were blessed with it. If there is a card game up there, I am sure Carl is at the table and Aunt Carol is sitting to the side with some handwork on the go.
We will miss you.
Kelly, Greg, Emily and Alexander
