Obituary of James Archibald Wyre
WYRE, James Archibald “Jamie” – April 13, 1947 ~ July 28, 2023. Born to Gladys (Nash) and Louis Wyre of West Bay Road. James “Jamie” worked at Stora Papermill for over 40 years in Instrumentation. As a young fellow, he enjoyed skiing Johnnie Heck’s hill and skating on the brooks and ponds of the village as well as playing on local baseball teams.
Jamie also spent a lot of his days up in Princeville on his foster grandparents (Jimmie and Maggie MacArthur) farm, making hay and working with the horses. In later life he enjoyed Gentlemen’s Hockey and in the summer, golfing with his friends. Jamie had a fondness for country music and was a great round dancer. He liked to travel and toured across Canada, parts of the US and England.
Jamie was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Gladys. He is survived by his son, Robbie (Marlene) and grandchildren, Logan and Bryson; son, Arron (Crystal) and grandchildren, Dakota and Aiden. He also leaves behind his sister, Edie MacDonald; brother, Wayne (Mitzi); sister, Patsy (Bryden) Campbell; as well as two dear aunts, Jessie and Patsy and many relatives across Canada and the U.K.
The love of his life was Evelyn MacRae and his best friend in the world. His “Favorite Female Country Music Musician” he used to call her. He used to join in playing his mouth organ at some of her shows over the years. He sure will be missed and loved forever by her. She was also was his care giver and looked after Jamie until almost the end.
In keeping with Jamie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time. Arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
