Obituary of Lorraine Theresa Henry
HENRY, Lorraine Theresa – Age 92, Mulgrave, Guysborough Co., passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Mulgrave, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Annie Mae (O’Neil) Nicolle.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are sisters-in-law, Carol and Ruth; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert; brothers, John, Adolph, Vince, Clayton; sisters, Alicia, Wilda and Faith.
Lorraine was a teacher, having taught for 28 years, beginning her career in Mabou and ending in Elmsdale. She was a member of the Sisters of Notre Dame Convent in Montreal. During her teaching career is when she met the love of her life, Albert Henry “Al”. Following their marriage they returned to Nova Scotia, where they resided in Elmsdale for several years. They both then retired and settled in Mulgrave.
Her and Al enjoyed their many traveling adventures and music. She took pride and enjoyed being the Baptismal Coordinator of St. Lawrence Parish where she oversaw many baptisms as well as for St. Paul’s Parish in Havre Boucher.
Lorraine was always grateful for her daily chats with her dear friend, Mary Williams. Lorraine was forever thankful to her niece Debbie and her husband Basil, for their constant care and affection over the years. Also to her niece Anne Marie Mattie for her visits and baking.
The family would like to thank at this time, Dr. Howard the nurses and staff of St. Martha’s for the exceptional care that was shown to our Aunt Lorraine.
Visitation will be from 11 to 12:45 on Tuesday, July 25 in the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral mass will follow at 1 p.m. from St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
