It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Daniel Joseph O’Toole age 69, of Evanston. Danny died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Born in Point Tupper on February 20, 1944, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marguerite (MacMillan) O’Toole. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Paula (MacDougall); sons, Eddie (Rachael), Grande Prairie; Jamie (Justina), Port Hawkesbury; daughter, Leigh Anne at home; brothers, Francis (Priscilla), North Sydney; Raymond, Port Hastings; Lawrence (Vera), Guelph; sisters, Hilda Kinney, Port Hawkesbury; Helen O’Toole, Evanston and Millie (Clifford) DeCoste, Havre Boucher; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Leonard and Ronald. Danny will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humour, his kind manner, and his ability to find the goodness in everyone and every situation. Family gatherings will not be the same without him; he was always a central presence and the source of much laughter and amusement. Danny loved the outdoors and as long as he was around the water he was happy. He loved going on a tour and there wasn’t many roads on Cape Breton Island he hadn’t been down. Danny retired from Landrie Lake Water Resources. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society or Point Tupper Heritage Association. A special thanks to Dr. Collins, Dr. Cooper, Nancy Cameron, Georgette MacDonell and staff at Strait Richmond Hospital.
