MUNRO, Leonard Gregory "Greg" – Whycocomagh. With deep sadness we announce the passing of Greg, age 54, of Whycocomagh. Greg died Monday, January 20, 2014, in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born in Inverness, Greg was the son of Robert and Norma (MacLennan) Munro of Whycocomagh.
Greg is survived by his daughter, Erin, New Glasgow; sister, Connie (Kevin Dorton), nephew, Robbie; nieces, Heidi and Marissa; many aunts and uncles and cousins and last but not least his beloved dog, Charlie.
Although Greg had many challenges due to an accident for the last eight years, his courage and determination kept his outlook on life very positive in which he enjoyed and lived it to the fullest. "A giving heart" Greg’s greatest attributes to life was the love of his work with the Whycocomagh Volunteer Fire Department, one of his greatest passions for the past thirty years, serving as fire chief for a number of years as well.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday from Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Burial in Stewartdale Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Greg’s memory to the Whycocomagh Volunteer Fire Department.
