Kinney, Hilda Esther - Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home/Steep Creek - Age 86. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother on Thursday, April 23, 2020 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Her kindness knew no bounds Born in Point Tupper to the late Joseph and Marguerite (MacMillan) O’Toole, Hilda left home at a young age to begin her life working in various jobs while attending night school in Sydney. Her fondest memories were of her time spent as "the little teacher" in the small school house in Sampsonville. Hilda is now once again reunited with her dancing partner in life, Millard Kinney, with whom she lived and raised a family of five children in Steep Creek. Esther (Peter) Atkinson, Courtney, Arnold (Marina), Warren (Denise) and Verna (John) Halloran. Hilda also found such joy in her grandchildren who were blessed by her kind and loving soul. Brandy Horne (fiancée Matthew Brannon), Wanda (Wade) Penney, Tashi Brown, Robert Kinney, Heather (Ryan) Brophy, Connor Royale (fiancée Megan Ellis), Chandler Kinney, Jeremy Kinney, Maria Kinney, Jacob Halloran, and Maggie Halloran; great grandchild, Autumn Penney and another due in fall. Hilda is survived by sisters, Helen O’Toole, Mille (Clifford) DeCoste; brothers, Raymond O’Toole, Lawrence "Tug" O’Toole; sister-in-law, Paula O’Toole; brother-in-law, Angus (Bonnie) Kinney. Predeceased by husband, Millard, brothers, Francis, Danny, Ronnie and Lenny O’Toole. A special thank you to the loving staff of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for their years of ongoing kindness and care and also Dr. Collins and staff of Strait Richmond hospital. A graveside service will be held at a later time in St. Lawrence Parish Cemetery, Mulgrave. Donations in memory of Hilda may be made to the St. Lawrence Parish Cemetery Fund.
