My mom was Flora Jessie Campbell and my Aunt Kay was my mom's youngest sister. My Aunt Kay and Aunt Peggy were kind enough to make the trip to Detroit, back in the day, when my husband and I got married over 35 years ago. My aunts were very kind to make such a long trip. Looking back, it was appropriate that Kay was at my wedding. As a 5-year-old, I traveled with my mom (a two day train trip) to Cape Breton for Kay's wedding. Some of my earliest childhood memories are from that trip. I was able to visit the old homestead on Centennial Road and meet many members of the Campbell clan for the first time. Gazing at all those beautiful Campbell sisters dressed in their wedding finery and fancy hats was a sight to see. Aunt Kay loved a good ceilidh, step dancing, and of course, the offer of a good biscuit or date square. Comforting to know she will be reunited with Uncle Roddie once again. Godspeed.
