MacIntyre, Janet Marie It is with broken hearts we announce the death of our loving mother, Janet MacIntyre, who passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2020, in the Strait Richmond Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Charlottetown, PEI, on July 20, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John and Loretta (MacDonald) Longaphie. She was a member of the Port Hawkesbury Figure Skating Club in the late 1970’s to early 1980’s, where she was a coach and a judge. Janet was a councillor attendant for Addiction Services at the Strait Richmond Hospital for 21 years from 1993-2014. She took utmost pride in her job and was so proud to help people. She developed many lifelong friendships at her job that she held dear to her heart. Janet always looked forward to Monday nights when her dear friend Linda Lowes would come to spend time with her. She also looked forward to Fridays to do the Lexicon puzzle in the Chronicle Herald. Our mom loved to play cards, cheer on the Montreal Canadiens and was an avid knitter. Surviving are her four daughters; Kelly (Danny) Stark, Port Hawkesbury; Elissa MacIntyre, Dartmouth; Kimberly vanZupthen, West Mabou and Patricia MacIntyre, Port Hood, grandchildren; Mitchell, Justin, Bradley, Gracie, Liam, Emma, Abigail, Faith, Alexander, Adrianna and great granddaughter Brooklyn. Aside from her parents, Janet was predeceased by her husband, Bernie MacIntyre, brothers, William "Pepper", Joey and James "Jimmy", sisters; Ruby, Theresa "TeeDee", Gertrude and Phyllis. Visitation will be from 6 – 9p.m. on Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 10a.m. Saturday from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please.
