MacNeil, Donald "Donnie"- Evanston, passed away at home surrounded by family on November 25, 2019. Donnie was predeceased by parents Elizabeth and Joesph MacNeil, Johnstown, and infant son, George Joseph. He is survived by loving wife Peggy (Matheson) MacNeil. Proud father of daughters, Lynn MacNeil (John Greeley); Kelly Griffiths (Mark); Keri Nelson (Steve) and son, Graham MacNeil (Elizabeth MacDonald). Special grandchildren, Nicole and Max MacNeil and Jayden Nelson. Survived by sisters, Mary MacNeil; Teresa MacNeil (Luke Batdorf); Eleanor MacNeil and brother, Michael MacNeil (Carole Marie); sister-in-laws, Linda Sutherland (Mike) and Georgina Mombourquette (Francis) and seven nieces and nephews. A special thank you to his extended family Vesty and Edith MacInnis. The family would also like to send their sincerest thanks to Dr. Paul Pluta, nursing angels, Shelly, Paula, Rachel and Kyla and to Tracey Brown and hematology staff at Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their wonderful care and support. Donnie’s body has been donated to Dalhousie University for medical research. Visitation with family will be Thursday, November 28, 2019 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Memorial mass will be held at St. Francis De Sales Roman Catholic Church, Lower River Inhabitants, on Friday November 29, 2019 at 11:00 am, Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating.
