Obituary of Christopher Wade Jerome MacDonald
Christopher Wade Jerome MacDonald
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Wade Jerome MacDonald of Antigonish on Monday, December 23, 2024, with his family by his side. Chris was born in Baddeck, NS and raised in Upper River Denys, NS. He was the son of Jerome and Jean (MacKay) MacDonald of Lower South River formerly of Upper River Denys.
At an early age Chris showed a love of the outdoors and spent many hours fishing in the brook by his home. His love of fishing and the outdoors followed him wherever he travelled. He passed this love on to his daughter Ellisa through their many outdoor adventures together.
As a Pipefitter and Heavy Duty Mechanic, Chris had the opportunity to work in several provinces, making many lifelong friends.
Chris fought a courageous battle with cancer. He overcame many obstacles and surpassed all medical expectations he was faced with. The light of his life, Ellisa and his positive mindset, kept him focused and determined.
Chris leaves to mourn, his daughter, Ellisa MacDonald, Little Narrows; parents, Jerome and Jean MacDonald, Lower South River; sisters, Tracey MacDonald, Whycocomagh and Maxine Chisholm (Jamie Boudreau), Melford; nieces, Michelle Jamieson (Dawson Andrews), New Glasgow and Haven & Dallas Jamieson, New Glasgow. Chris was predeceased by his nephew and godson, Duncan Chisholm; his uncle, Edward MacDonald and grandfather, Duncan MacDonald.
The family would like to thank Dr Saliba and the Oncology Department, the entire Palliative Care team at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital for their kindness and compassion with a special thank you to Dr Allen who provided support and continuing care to Chris and his family.
Thank you to everyone that supported Chris and his family during his illness- the phone calls, messages, visits, meals, gifts, and constant support. We are forever grateful.
In keeping with Chris’ wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be announced for a later date; this webpage will be updated when it is finalized.
Donations in Chris’ memory can be made to the breakfast program at Rankin School of Narrows, 4113 Route 233, Iona, NS B2C 1A4
Arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
