Frankie was the son of the Late Alexander (Alex R) Googoo and Pauline Googoo. He was born in Baddeck on January 29, 1967. He was truly loved and a great friend to all tha knew him. He was a man with a contagious sense of humor, deep wisdom and who truly lived in the moment. His greatest achievement was that he cherished every moment shared with his loved ones.
Frankie’s work ethic was developed at a young age when worked along-side his dad. These same teachings have been instilled in his own children. He was a well-respected member not only in the community of We’koqma’q but throughout Mi’kmaki. Frankie will be remembered for his talkative nature, his quick wit, and special way of making people laugh. A Medical First Responder, fireman, electrician, and carpenter, he dedicated his life to helping others. He was also the Maintenance Supervisor at the We'koqma'q Mi'kmaw School for many years.
Frankie was devoted to Ste Anne, carrying out his roles with love, respect and immense pride. Frankie was committed to the annual Ste Anne Pilgrimage and the mission to Ste Ann de Beaupre. In 1991 he began leading the procession to Ste Anne Mission (Miniku) in Potlotek the same time he became a member of the Grand council.
He loved and enjoyed taking trips, fishing, hunting, darts, archery, biking, cruising out on the skiddoo and 4 wheelers. He enjoyed watching ball games & hockey games. He enjoyed travelling to Maine every year all his life where he made memories with family and friends during the blueberry harvesting and he always made it a family vacation. Most of all he enjoyed camping anywhere and just spending time with his family. His daily Tim Horton runs allowed him to meet up with friends and he could talk for hours. He enjoyed playing Monopoly, was a serious player and kept everyone on top of their game. Many may not know he enjoyed sharing and collecting stickers! Frankie also enjoyed watching fur baby Oreo and taking her for every day cruises.
Honestly, whatever he did, as long as it was with family he truly enjoyed it. He always believed that living in the moment was the best way to be. Frankie always made sure the ones in his life were always good. Frankie also enjoyed the holidays. He loved decorating for Halloween, Christmas and he would always say, “It's all for the kids!” He sure loved it when people told him our house was decorated beautifully because he took so much pride in making kids smile when they saw his home for the holidays! He loved children and loved it when he made them smile, laugh or when he made their day an awesome one.
His wife Shannon & their beautiful creations ~ Bailey, Hayden and Shannah, meant the world to him. He was a devoted husband and father sharing great pride in all his family’s accomplishments. He was a great family man. He truly cherished every moment well spent creating beautiful memories with his loved ones, and his legacy will always be remembered in our hearts.
