Dear Jerry, Theresa and family, We were so sorry to hear that Jim has passed. It was a shock to us because we had played pickleball with him at the A.E.C. just a few weeks ago and he was joking about his scar and recent operation. He had become a skilled player with beautiful soft strokes, as well as powerful hard drives. We honour him for putting on such a brave face and enjoying the game he loved to the end.
With love,
Johnny and Leslie Buckland-Nicks

Heather, Rebecca, and Family. Our deepest condolences on Jim's passing. Our hearts broke when we heard the news. He was such a fun loving person; a prankster at times. Jim loved having his packets of Rockets candy while playing pickleball. He would take the wrappers and secretly put them in Cheryl's pickleball bag when she was not looking; week after week. It took quite a while before she discovered what was going on.
A great super guy.
I was so happy that he asked me to be his partner at the Nova Scotia Pickleball Championships. We had a great fun time. Thank You Jimmy.
Hugs, Love, and Prayers;
Paul and Cheryl Matthews.

Q: How did you meet James 'Jim'?
A: It is with the deepest sadness that I am sending my condolences to Heather and her entire family. I met Jim at our Christmas dinner (at the Claymore Inn), the year Heather joined our Palliative Care Team. Jim was so nervous. His saturated shirt was a give away! What a beautiful couple!!!! Jim’s love for his wife, family and life was so truly evident. I am truly honoured to have met him. May his limited life’s presence, be a healing strength, as you navigate through these difficult days ahead. Remembering you in thought and prayer. Debbie Horne

I wish to extend my deepest condolences to all of Jimmy’s family at this very difficult time, but especially Jerry, who I had the great privilege of working with for a brief time, but who made a very positive impression on me.
I remember Jimmy and I as young guys in about 1987 getting up early on a Sunday morning to go running. This was in order to make weight so we could play in the provincial Bantam football championship game at the Port Hawkesbury field (we both made it).
I saw him most recently this summer when I was back home, and the conversation was so friendly and lighthearted. I had no idea he was not well. He was as easy going and pleasant as I’d always remembered, and always will remember.

Trying to read this through tears was a challenge. I'm so very sorry for everyone. Heartbreaking. Jimmy was so funny, so adored by his friends and family. Dearest Heather, we in total shock for your loss of your beloved Jimmy. Please accept our heartfelt condolences. The 1st day we met both of you at pickleball we felt as though we were accepted into this "family" of pickleballers. Jimmy you always took it easy on us 2 newbies and taught us many insights to the game even tho you could smash that ball through us at any time. You made the game looks so easy... how do you do that? :) Your smile and infectious laugh will be remembered every chance we get to play p-ball. And we know you will always be there in spirit. Till we meet again...... Linda & Brian
