Obituary of Frederick 'Bugs' Emmanuel MacIntyre

Please share a memory of Frederick 'Bugs' to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with broken hearts that the family announces the passing of Frederick Emmanuel “Bugs” MacIntyre, Age 76, at St Martha's Hospital, Antigonish on Monday, December 2,2024.  He was born in Point Tupper, Cape Breton, NS. to the late Pat and Estelle MacIntyre on April 1, 1948. He came from a family of 11 children with only one remaining.

Bugs was a family man with so much love for his daughter Kelly and family. He also loved his many nieces and nephews who were ever present at his bedside during his final days.

Bugs held a variety of jobs during his lifetime with careful attention to everyone. His work life was shortened early with symptoms of what eventually overcame him.

Bugs met his second wife, Jean, and they were married for 15 years this past August. Bugs left his native land of Port Hawkesbury in 2014 and moved to Antigonish. Many people thought he could not leave Port Hawkesbury, but he loved Antigonish. He met many friends who loved him as much as the folks "down home". Bugs loved to be with his stepfamily and took each of them under his wing. Bugs purchased a motor home early into his new relationship and had many, many good times with a group of fabulous people. He also bought a red truck, and he was easily identified with his love of that truck.

Bugs is survived by his wife, Jean (MacInnis) MacIntyre; 4 stepchildren, and 11 step grandchildren. He is also survived by his daughter, Kelly Campbell, son-in-law Pat, and two precious grandchildren, Daniel and Leah; sister, Maureen (Albert) Bourgeois, Port Hawkesbury; brother-in-law, Ivan Hamill, Mississauga, ON; sisters-in-law, Joan MacIntyre, Brenda MacIntyre, Port Hawkesbury; Adele Bates, Truro, NS; Sharon MacIntyre, Little Dover, NS.

Bugs was predeceased by his first wife, Kaye (Townsend) MacIntyre; daughter, Vesta Wadden; his parents; stepmother, Robina “Vinie” MacIntyre; brothers and wives, Peter (Alice), Terry (Marilane), Clifford (Joan), Allan, Michael “Bud”, Ray, Wayne; sisters, Diane and Irene “Bo”: brother-in- law, Ray Bourgeois.

The family would like to profoundly thank the doctors and nursing staff in units PCU and ICU at St Martha's Hospital.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St. Port Hawkesbury.
