Obituary of Ryle Gabriel Googoo
It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved, Ryle Gabriel Googoo, aged 37 of We’koqma’q. He leaves behind his loving parents Danita and Rod Googoo, older brother, Steve (Tiff), sisters, Was, Megan, Rayana (Sam), Bella, nephew Emery Breton, niece Osea Pearl, godson Gabe, aunts Karen, Darlene, Debbie, Doreen, and Wanda. His Eagle Island Lodge family Amy, Brian, Mike, Dmitri, Rodney, and Titus will also miss him dearly. Ryle was predeceased by his grandparents Gabriel, Pearl, Christie Ann and Gordon Googoo, sister Carol Ann, aunt Mary Rose, uncles Gordon Jr., Sandy, Mickey B., cousins Darrell, Melissa and Chrissy.
Ryle was a highly skilled and trained survivalist. He was certified and trained in the following: Firearms Safety, Goshin Jujitsu (self-defence), Backpack Electrofishing, Fire Familiarization, Basic Deckhand, First Aid, Aboriginal Fishery Guardianship, Presentation Skills, Pathways to Employment, Radio Control Operator, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, and had his boating license. Ryle graduated with honours at the
New Brunswick Community College for Police Foundations which includes certifications in Ground Avoidance Ground Escape, Defense Tactics, Oleoresin Capsicum, Swiftwater Reserve Technician One, and Spontaneous Knife Defense just to name a few.
Ryle had a zest for life, and a lot of his free time was spent travelling down South with his best friend Jerry Lee, and many other friends. He loved playing volleyball and had earned eight gold medals, and one silver medal participating in the Mi’kmaw Summer Games. He loved watching television and movies. He could quote any movie from any genre.
Ryle was a foodie, and thoroughly enjoyed travelling for the buffets. He was an all-around great guy, extremely loyal, pious and virtuous. His quick wit and contagious laughter made him a fixture amongst social settings. He had the gift of making anyone feel comfortable and special with his big smile and genuine good intentions. He had carved out many lifelong friendships over the years. He left a huge impact on the lives
of his family, friends, colleagues and community.
Visitation for Ryle will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 28 in the We'koqma'q Community Hall, 15 Reservation Rd., We'koqma'q. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 30 from Blessed Saint Kateri Parish, We'koqma'q with Father Joby Augustin officiating. Cremation will follow.
