Freeman Stanley Franklin
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Freeman Stanley Franklin at Kingston Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, November 7, 2024 having lived a full life to the age of 95 .
Born January 2, 1929, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, son of William and Nellie (George) Franklin, the last surviving member of his family. Beloved companion for 18 years to Dorothy May Funnell of Gananoque.
Dad worked for many years in the Graphic business, ending his career with Allen’s Graphics of Kingston at the age of 75. He thoroughly enjoyed his summers camping, fishing and all the wonderful people he met along the way. He was an avid bowler for years, winning many trophies of which he was so proud.
Dad especially loved good music and kicking up his heels, always being the first one on the dance floor.
Loving father of Rob (Donna) of Kingston, Debbie (Clifford Carter) of Nova Scotia and Shelley of Kingston. Beloved Grandfather to Melissa (Ryan) of Oshawa, Kevin (Kait) of Kingston, Timmy (Carrie) of Sylvan Lake, AB, Garrett (Adrienne) of Moncton, NB, Chase (Kristy) of Spring Lake, AB, Michael and Bradley. Great grandfather to Hope of St. Peters, NS, Aryel of Sylvan Lake, AB and Great great grandfather to Hudson of St. Peters, NS. Special step grand-daughters Shelley Poffley and Tammy Pigeon. Survived by sister-in-law Pat Franklin, Nova Scotia. He will be fondly remembered and missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Predeceased by his first wife of 54 years Dorothy Louise and son Wayne. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Clarence, Fred, Gary and sisters Marie and June.
As per Dad’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday November 12, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the James Reid Funeral Home, Celebration Centre, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston (entering from rear parking lot doors). Donations in memory of Freeman would be appreciated to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of Connell 9 and Connell 3 for the wonderful and compassionate care that Dad received.
