Obituary of Michael William Fawcett

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Mike Fawcett, 28, of Judique, NS.

Mike’s love for the outdoors and adventure was second only to his love for his family. This love for adventure took him through many trails in Atlantic Canada searching for all the known and unknown waterfalls. Hiking and camping was Mike’s passion and he found true peace in the wilderness. It was his happy place, where he felt content and truly himself.

Mike loved his Subaru and his Toyota Tundra. He took his motor bike on many trips including a trip to Ontario. The vehicles were another way for Mike to have adventures, experiences and make memories.

Mike was known by his family for his creativity and artistic abilities. There was no limit to Mike’s imagination and he could create what only he could envision for the rest of us to see. While Mike had firm beliefs in right and wrong, he was also patient, compassionate, and forgiving. Mike was nonjudgemental and loyal. His heart was so big, it often was broken. Mike was a protecter of those he loved, especially his Mom and his sister.

His mother is extremely proud of the man he became.

Mike gave 100% and dreamed of having his own business and farm. They combined two things he loved, hard work and animals.

When Mike looked at the world, he saw the beauty and the potential.

While he will have many unfulfilled dreams, he did fulfill an important one this summer by travelling across Canada in his beloved truck and camper. Camping and hiking in Banff and the surrounding areas was something he spoke of for a long time and was able to accomplish this summer with Shelby and Merlyn.

Mike’s interest and talents were unlimited. He played hockey throughout his youth in Port Hood, Whycocomagh, Port Hawkesbury, and Ontario. He was a provincial Judo champion. He worked hard, starting as a helper to his uncle Alex in his electrical business, working with his father in Ontario, and finding his own working as a bucket operator and tree trimmer.

Left behind is his mother, Nicole Fawcett (Kevin Campbell); father Wayne Fawcett (Sandra), beloved little sister, Jessica Fawcett; Grandmothers Reta MacInnis and Marion Fawcett; his uncles John (Kimberly) MacInnis, Michael MacInnis (Brenda), Rob Fawcett; Aunts Peggy MacNeil (Alex) and Lisa Coghill (Jeff): his many cousins and friends. Mike was predeceased by grandfathers Burke MacInnis and William Fawcett.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 8 from 2-9 p.m. in Port Hood and Area Resting Place. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 9 in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Port Hood with Father Sunny Sebastian and Father Eugene Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. A reception will follow in St. Peter's Parish Hall.

Donations may be made in Mike’s name to the SPCA. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
