Obituary of Thomas Edward Sparkes
Thomas Edward Sparkes
1980 – 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Thomas Edward Sparkes at the young age of 44, on Monday, September 16, 2024. Born in St. John’s Newfoundland, resided in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia.
He is survived by his loving parents, Louis and Irene (Musseau) Sparkes. His pride and joy is his daughter, Casey Eliza Sparkes. The love of his life, Lisa Chafe, and his bonus sons, Tyler and Riley Marchand; his brother, Gary (Brenda) Sparkes; his sisters, Sherri “Big Sis” (Denny) Bullard, LouAnn “Lil Sis” Sparkes (Stephen). Nieces and Nephews, Monique, Dylan, Kelsey, Ryan and Gracie-Rose. His fur babies, Tucker and Leo. Along with many extended family and friends.
He was pre-deceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents, Thomas and Josephine Sparkes of Glovertown, Newfoundland, Gerald and Anna Musseau of Port Aux Basque, Newfoundland, and Great Uncle Hedley. His childhood fur-companions, Blackie & Molly.
Tom’s most prized possession is Casey, who was brought into the world with Heather Ryan, for which he was so grateful for.
Tom found happiness by working on different projects and trades with his father. From rebuilding his GMC from scratch (because you would never see him drive a ford) to doing woodwork in the shed. Tom gained his amazing cooking skills from his mom, whether in the kitchen, at home, or at the restaurant. Tom enjoyed a good breakfast, a nice pile of mashed potatoes with ranch dressing, and a McDouble made with ONLY bacon, cheese, shredded lettuce, slivered onions, and EXTRA McChicken Sauce.
Tom had the ability to put a smile on everyone’s face, make you laugh until it hurt, but he disliked telling a joke twice. He had a contagious laugh that came from his soul, you could hear it across the room. Tom was a hardworking man, and he took pride in the jobs he accomplished. He was a provider for his family and was proud of his family. Tom enjoyed talking with strangers, a past friend, or the underdog. It did not matter what a person’s past held he wanted to help, make them laugh, make them feel important.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 20, and 2-4 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024. A celebration of life will be held after the viewing on Saturday, both taking place in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury. Cremation to follow and burial at a later date. Donations made be made to the family. Words of comfort mat be sent to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
