Florence E. MacKeigan passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Alderwood Rest Home in Baddeck, Nova Scotia. Flora was born in Whycocomagh, NS, on November 27, 1937 to the late John Lewis and Margaret (Robinson) MacKeigan.

Flora is survived by her sister, Sheila MacKay (Donald MacDonald), and her children, John (Alice) MacKay and grandson, Caleb and Ivan MacKay. She is also survived by nieces, Mary Beth Ferguson (George) and her children, Nicole and Lauren; Nancy Turbill; Lynanne Kochhar and her children, Priyanka and Ravi; Mary Anne Cameron (Darren) and her children, Megan, Ewan and Catherine; Christena Rouse (Jason) and her children, Jessica, Callista, Jansen and grandson, Nathan; nephew John Lewis MacKeigan (Tanya); and sister-in-law, Shirley MacKeigan.

Besides her parents, Flora was predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy McLean, Katherine Turbill and brother, Ian MacKeigan; brothers-in-law, Dougald McLean, Kenzie Turbill and Archie MacKay

Flora resided most of her life in Glace Bay, NS, where she worked as a Registered Nurse at the Glace Bay General Hospital. In 2006 she moved back home to Whycocomagh to be close to family.

The family would like to thank all those who helped to look after Flora throughout the years from friends and family in Glace Bay and Whycocomagh, to the workers at Inverness County Home Support and most recently, the staff of Alderwood Rest Home.

As per Flora’s request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Stewartdale Cemetery with Rev. Karen MacNeill officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stewartdale Cemetery or to Alderwood Rest Home. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
