Q: What will you never forget about Bertha?
A: Condolences to Bonnie, Steve and the rest of your family.
It is impossible for me to think of your mom and not smile because of the way she always made me feel as a little kid, every time I saw her.
She was always so warm, friendly, and inviting and made in her presence feel special.
I remember being a little kid and having to spend a week in the Guysborough Hospital, I was very scared and crying until your mom popped into my room, bring him with her some yummy desserts.
She stayed in my room the first night until I fell asleep. In retrospect, I recognize she was busy and probably had plenty of work to do, which makes her actions even more special because she went above and beyond to make me feel safe.
At that time she was to cook at the hospital. She made my stay in the hospital a five star experience, I remember going down to the kitchen, where she’d have treats for me every time.
She talked to me with so much kindness and compassion every time I saw her, If you were having a bad day, her smile would lift your spirits.
Didn’t matter where I was, walking past the house waving hello, running into her at Earl Hart’s store or seeing her at the Barn restaurant (where she made the best french fries and gravy on the planet.) You always left feeling uplifted.
She was the epitome of an angel living on earth.

To the family of the late Bertha Hart, My name is Mary Borden Hurel I met your Mom when I was a teenager while I was on a summer vacation in Guysborough. She was working at the Barn Restaurant. She grew up and went to school with my late father Chester Borden. Your Mom was told who I was and was very happy to have met me and she told me stories of my father. Bertha left a lasting impression on me and I never forgotten her so I'm sending my heartfelt condolences to all her family. Another angel has earned her wings may Bertha rest in peace.

So many good memories to be treasured by all of us. Aunt Bertha was the strongest and most giving person I ever knew: she worked hard her entire life and it saddened all of us that dementia stole so many precious years. The visits that lasted for hours and the wisdom and sharing memories will always be close to my heart. Her love for her children and grandson Cory was immeasurable, her family was her world. Rest easy dear lady, after a life of work and love, you have earned your rest.

So very sad to hear of Bertha's passing. We were welcomed to Boylston but the wonderful Hart family. Bertha was a wonderful loving person, who assisted our family whenever she could, especially when our dad was sick. Our deepest condolences to your entire family. To Steve, Cory and Bonnie. Xo
