I met Steve in 1986 when I first sailed on the Northern Osprey. He became my friend , laughing buddy and often in those days kept me out of trouble. We kept in touch from then on . It is with my admiration for him and the loss he has left us with that has greatly moved me.

Bruce and I are so very sorry for your loss of a very special person in your lives. Although I knew Steve all of my life, I never new him very well personally; But that never stopped him from being so kind and considerate to me or Bruce whenever he seen one of us. I thought the world of him and Bernice also. If anyone was in trouble on the water Steve would be one of the first boats on the way to help them out. I wish all of you my very best and my prayers that God will help see you all through this very sad time. Sending a huge hug to all of you.

Words cannot express the deep sadness I feel for all of Steve's family and friends. My heart feels your loss and the loss for the town of Canso, all your fishing buddies, and all who were lucky enough to have had you as a mentor at some point. I hear there were many that listened to your advice in the fishing industry, and considered you to be their mentor.
Rest in peace dear cousin, and give Meg and Jack big hugs when you reach your final destination.

To the Meade and Greencorn families, our deepest condolences on the loss of such a wonderful man. Steve was always kind , gentle and funny. From our High School days to whenever our paths would cross in the following years, he always had time to at the very least, say hello and ask how you were. Steve, your legacy on the sea and in the town will remain with all those who knew and loved you. Fair winds and following seas, Captain. Our love to all the families and friends

Please accept our sincere condolences. Steve was by far one of the nicest and kindness people we knew. He was always up for a chat whenever our paths crossed. His generosity was appreciated by all the organizations and groups that he supported over the years. We know many of the upgrades on the Chapel Gully Trail would never have happened without his support. His support of the Canso Regatta was always appreciated and helped us restart it and keep it successful. He will be missed by everyone. The World has lost one of the good ones!
