PELLEY (WORTH), Marie Catherine – Age 82 of Guysborough, formerly North Ogden, Guysborough Co. It is with deep sorrow that we announce her passing on Wednesday May 29, 2024 in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born in North Ogden, on August 17, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Annie (Jones) Worth. She was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough.
In her earlier years, Marie worked with the Home Support Agency in Guysborough. Later, she worked at the Canso Seafoods Fish Plant in Canso and delivered the Chronicle Herald newspaper from Guysborough to Half Island Cove. In
1985 she began a career with Canada Post delivering mail along the rural route from Guysborough to Half Island Cove until her retirement in 2006.
Marie loved playing cards, especially 45s, and attended card parties as often as she could and would never miss an opportunity to suggest having a hand of cards whenever people visited. She loved country music and often sang along with her husband Bill as he played guitar and sang for family and friends.
Marie will be dearly missed by her children, Lonas (Nola Gaudet), Roseanne (Jim Hanifen), Kevin (Christina “Tina” Vaux), Wanita (Bob Hettrick), Cameron (Brenda Scully), Malcolm (Dianna); grandchildren, Tommy, James, Jeffrey, Kristine, Jennifer, Jacqueline, Sylvia, Jeremy, Charita, Aaron, Jason, Madeline, Braden, Tyler, Lori and Tanya; great-grandchildren, Charity, Derek, Morgan, Nicholas, Quinn, Bianca, Maurice Joseph (M.J.), Jessie Rose, Colten, Wyatt, Sawyer, Steven, Shawn, Brittany, Emma, Kaley, and Charlie; sisters, Irene, Isabelle, Hazel (Gary Cleary), Patricia (Bryan Benoit) and Doreen; brothers, Charles “Charlie” (Sheila), Jack and Donnie (Debbie) and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband William “Bill” and daughter Sylvia; sisters, Hilda and Rita; brothers, Joe, Bill, Bern, Angus, Leo and Les.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday May 31, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1 from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough with Father Godwin Kalu officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
