Baldasaro, Shirley A. “Sherry” of Somerville MA., and formally from Red Point, NS.  It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley A. “Sherry” Baldasaro on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at the age of 78 years.  She passed away peacefully at home with her son Brian by her side after battling cancer for over a year.

Sherry was the daughter of the late Murdena (Moody) MacNeil and stepfather John Alex MacNeil.  Sherry went to Boston at the early age of 16 years, but always came back to Cape Breton every year. 

Sherry is survived by her son, Brian Smith; grandchildren, Brad, Brianna, and Brittany; great grandsons, Travis and Logan; sisters, Betty, Estmere, NS, Ivadelle, Orangedale, NS and brother, James, Red Point, NS, several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.  She will be missed by her great friend and care giver Patricia Wilbur.

Besides her parents, Sherry was predeceased by her husband, David Baldasaro, fiancé, Tom Bowes; daughter in law, Kerri; brother, Anson; sister, Zelda and brother-in-law, Hughie.

Visitation will take place on Friday, May 17 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Columba Roman Catholic Church, Iona, NS with Father Victor Ozonoh officiating.  Burial to follow in Malagawatch Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Sherry to the Malagawatch Cemetery Fund.  Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
