Obituary of Darlene Ruth Haywood

Please share a memory of Darlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Haywood, Darlene Ruth - After sharing a lifetime of knowledge, guidance and selflessly imparting her wisdom, Darlene Haywood has peacefully transitioned to the next chapter of her extraordinary journey. She will be joyfully welcomed by her beloved sons, Chad and Nathaniel Haywood, as she finally reunites with her late mother, Lenora Wood; an awaited reunion she has eagerly anticipated for nearly 68 years.

The enduring legacy of love and compassion left behind by her will forever reside in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.

During her time on this earth, Darlene profoundly impacted the lives of many with her boundless kindness, unparalleled generosity, and enduring love for her family and friends. She was a pillar of strength, always there to offer support and empowering encouragement to those in need.

Describing Darlene as an accomplished woman would not do justice to her extraordinary achievements and exceptional abilities.

Raised on Twin Elms Farm in the town of Springhill, NS, she was well-acquainted with the value of hard work from a young age. Small in stature but mighty in spirit, her unwavering drive and determination made her a formidable presence. These infectious qualities accompanied her throughout her illustrious career, making her a force to be reckoned with in any setting.

With a sharp mind and keen business acumen, Darlene was an astute businesswoman and entrepreneur. She rose to the top of several industries, breaking barriers and shattering glass ceilings along the way.

A true pioneer in multiple fields, she defied all expectations with her unparalleled talent and resolute perseverance. Her tireless work ethic, meticulous financial proficiency, and relentless approach to organization garnered her the reverence and esteem of both colleagues and contemporaries, establishing her as a dignified and esteemed leader.

In 1993, Darlene graduated from the Canadian Institute of Management, achieving the prestigious designation of C.I.M. Since then, she has held numerous influential titles in various sectors, including the telecom and environmental industries, showcasing her diverse range of expertise and vast experience.

Darlene was a devoted Wife, a beacon of strength and support for her family. As a caring Mother, Sister, and Aunt, she always went above and beyond for her loved ones. Amongst her many titles, "Nana" was that which she treasured the most. Her four Grandchildren brought immense joy and pride to her heart, and her face would light up whenever she spoke of them.

In her later years, Darlene took on a new role as the Matriarch of the Haywood family, following in the footsteps of her late mother-in-law, Helen Haywood. She embraced this responsibility with grace and wisdom, ensuring that the family remained close-knit and connected through the generations. Notoriously, she ensured she marked the age and birthday of all her loved ones on her calendar.

She unified countless individuals who gathered at her legendary "Survivor" events, drawing in crowds who made the journey to witness the awe-inspiring presence of "The Warden", a moniker bestowed upon her with deep affection and reverence.

Darlene is predeceased by her sons, Chad and Nathaniel Haywood; mother Lenora Wood; father Stanley Wood; stepmother Lee Wood; sister Dorothy MacPhee, and sister-in-law Betty Wood.

Darlene is lovingly remembered and survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Tom Haywood. She is also survived by her son, Jeremy Haywood and her protégé daughter-in-law, Tonya Feetham. Darlene leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Christian, Ryan, Nikolas and Lila. She is further survived by her dear sisters, Reta (Peter) Crowe, Eileen (Wayne) Hewitt, Lorna (Bernie) Wood, and her caring brothers, Bert (Bebe) Wood, Guy (Yolande Babineau) Wood and Clint (Sarah) Wood, Brother-in-law Allan MacPhee and dear friends, the family she chose: Bonnie (Doug) Seaboyer, Debbie (Everett) Deyarmond, Brenda (Andre) Degaust and Darlene (Kenny) Purcell.

Darlene's impact on the world around her is undeniable, a lesson to us all to be undeniable in our own endeavors.  Darlene's legacy is sure to endure for generations to come.
