Obituary of Donald Cecil MacInnis

MacInnis, Donald Cecil – Age 87, East Skye Glen, Inv. Co., passed away peacefully at Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 after a short illness.  Born in Inverness, he was the son of the late John Angus and Janet (Young) MacInnis.

Donald Cecil is survived by his daughters, Lisa MacInnis (Lou), Sandra Surell; sons, John MacInnis (Josie), Glenn MacInnis (Charlene); sister, Margaret; sisters and brothers in law, Laura (Beattie) MacInnis, London, Helen Boutilier (Melvin), Little Pond, Marguerite Leyte (Rollie), Millville, Norm MacIntosh (Dianne), London, David MacIntosh, Millville, Donnie MacIntosh, Millville.  He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife of 48 years, Anna (MacIntosh) MacInnis, daughter, Karen LeBlanc; brothers and sisters, Ninian (Kay), Allistair, Florence MacLean (Donald), Agnes McVey (Richard), Peter (Annie Mae), Beattie (Laura), George (Evelyn), Isaac (Ann) and Grace MacLean (Richard).

Donald Cecil was loved by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and loved his family.  He worked for Goodyear for 25 years before moving back to East Skye Glen in 1988.  He was the local handyman, he loved to laugh, he played crib every Tuesday at the Skye Glen Hall, he regularly attended indoor curling and was often present for cards at the Waterfront Centre in Whycocomagh and with anyone that stopped by the house for a visit.  He enjoyed his trips to Ontario to visit with family.  His nickname was Donald “Stop” due to his love of pranking his neighboring cousins.  He was a member of the AOTS Club, Brotherhood, and Masons.  He was such a wonderful gentleman who will be greatly missed.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.  A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4 from Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh.  Burial will follow in the Skye Glen Cemetery followed by a tea at the Skye Glen Hall.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Stewart United Church or the Skye Glen Cemetery.  Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
