Obituary of Paul Gregory Marcella
Paul Gregory Marcella 85 of Boylston, Guysborough County passed away peacefully at the Guysborough Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
Born on March 25, 1938 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario he was the son of the late Joe and Alma (McGregor) Marcella.
In his early years, Paul went to McGill University and worked as a director of a children’s aid society. He then travelled and lived in Copenhagen, Denmark and found a passion for handcrafts and leather goods. Paul returned to Canada residing in Nova Scotia starting his own business ‘Cobblers Awl’ creating leather goods. Paul spent his later years residing in his home in Boylston, enjoying the countryside and quiet life, known as the ‘Mountain Man’. Paul will be remembered for his many stories and passion for art.
Paul is survived by his children: Denise Marcella, Sean Marcella, and Dartagnan (Kristen) Hebert; grandchildren: Jade and Brooke Hebert; siblings: Richard, Laurie, and Joe Marcella.
Special thanks to Michael, Irmi, and Maud Peters for the visits and many meals prepared and to the staff of Guysborough Memorial Hospital who cared for Paul during his final days, your acts of kindness and compassion are appreciated beyond measure.
Cremation has taken place and family will gather in Paul’s memory at a later date.
