HANLON, Dorothy Age 58 of Sydney, formerly of Canso, Guysborough Co. It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt on Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by her family who loved her dearly. Mom was born in Canso; she was the daughter of the late Walter and Hattie (Welsh) Hanlon.

She is survived by her son, Micheal, Sydney; daughters, Hattie, Alice, Catherine (Kalvin) all of Sydney; sisters, Mary ann, Thelma (Wally), Nora (Addison), all of Canso; Joyce (Sheldon), of Sydney; Jamie (Donnie), Dover; brothers, Tommy (Ruth), Canso; Edward, PEI; Jimmy (Karen), Isaac's Harbour; grandchildren, Sydney, Whitney, Breton, Dominic and Addison; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Catherine and Helen, and brothers, Skipper, and Carl; granddaughter in infancy, Scarlette.

Mama loved all her family dearly and dedicated her life to her children and grand babies ,she also loved long drives and absolutely loved Christmas! 

We would like to take the time to thank all of the doctors and nurses, for the care that was given to mom while she was in the hospital.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 6th, 2024 in Star of the Sea Cemetery, Canso with Father Jonathan  Nnajiofor officiating.
