 Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Joy Matheson

 Mac Intyre Lake

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Joy Matheson on Thursday, November 2, 2023 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in the Miramichi, NB on March 22, 1961 she was a daughter of James ‘Jim’ Stanley and Morna Joyce (Lynch) Matheson of Miramichi formerly of Port Hawkesbury.

Kathy lit up any room she entered and sprinkled her kindness and generosity wherever she went. Kathy had friends from all walks of life and she loved them all, especially her “hens”, a solid group of ladies who gathered around each other in good times and in trying times.
Kathy handled her cancer diagnosis in 2015 and subsequent journey with an indomitable spirit coupled with strength and grace. Above all, Kathy cherished her family, especially Mark who was the love of her life. Meeting as teenagers and together for over 44 years, they shared a great love story.

Her two nephews, Kenneth and Mark, or her “boys” as she lovingly called them, will miss her terribly. They shared a special bond and she loved nothing more than to make them smile and laugh. Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Jim and Joyce; husband, Mark; siblings, Kim (Jim), James (Peggi), sister-in-law, Annette (Gary); mother and father-in-law, Carol and Frank Jamieson; nephews, Kenneth, Mark (Courtney), Tyler (Kim), Connor (Emily), as well as numerous extended family and friends.

The family would also like to thank the many doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals that helped lovingly care for our Kathy over the years, especially Dr. Glenn Gallivan and Lindsey, who always went above and beyond in their care of Kathy.

There will be no visitation. The funeral service to celebrate Kathy’s life will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 at 2: p.m., in St. Mark’s United Church, 504 Bernard St., Port Hawkesbury, with Rev. Jim MacNaughton officiating

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society or charity of your choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
