Obituary of Francis Rogers
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden, unexpected passing of our husband and father, Francis Rogers at home on Monday, August 28, 2023. Francis was born in North Sydney on December 8, 1961, to Joseph and the late Ann Georgina (Nolan) Rogers.
Francis is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Jackie (England) and his pride and joy, his son Nathan at home; sister, Mary (Ray) Dowling, Port Hawkesbury; brothers, Patrick, Poirierville; Tommy (Darlene), Poirierville, Joey (Sherry), New Glasgow, many nieces and nephews; godchildren, Colby England, Alisha Welsh, and Carly Carter; godfather, Michael Rogers, Winnipeg; mother-in-law, Linda England, Port Hastings; sister-in-law, Debbie England, Port Hastings and brother-in-law, Tremaine (Lynn) and family, Fort McMurray, AB.
Francis worked at various jobs, Sobeys in Port Hawkesbury and Antigonish, Ocean Nutrition in Mulgrave,Walmart and NSLC in Port Hawkesbury and Mulgrave and his last was driving taxi for both Dave’s Taxi and Harper’s Taxi until MS in 2020 forced him to give up work. The one thing he missed about working was the people.
Anyone that knew Francis, knew he had “The Gift of Gab”. Think Francis could have given Ann Terry a run for her money on talking. It wasn’t unusual for him to get on the phone and talk for 2-3 hours at a time. Always smiling, laughing, or telling jokes. Francis was a die-hard fan of the Red Sox and the Red Wings and the Patriots.
Francis was predeceased by his mother, infant son, Nolan; sisters, Jean Mah and her husband Ray Mah, Margaret (Kenny) Mrazek; brothers, Liam Rogers, John Musgrave, Allison Musgrave, Brenden Musgrave and John (Celene);father-in-law, Earl England.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place later. Donations may be made to the MS Society or to the I.W.K. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
