Dear MacDonald Family, I was thinking about Helen yesterday, and wondered where she was. I was so shocked and saddened to read of her passing. I was in Helen's Law 20 class at the former Bishop Grandin HS in Calgary (1977). She was a lovely woman and excellent teacher and role model. She had a great East Coast style; kilts and plaid skirts, knee socks and penny loafers and a hair band! I later moved to NS to teach, and discovered on the last day of school that Helen retired from Dartmouth High; I was the guidance counsellor up the road at John Martin Jr. High. I drove to DH hoping to catch Helen, but was told she'd already left the building. I always regret that I didn't have the opportunity to tell her how she influenced me. My sincere condolences. In the past few years I have had the loss of my son and grandaughter plus my good friend Jimmy. I leaned on Helen for support and she was always there. I will miss our conversations and those with Jimmy. God rest your loving soul Gary Matheson St. Catharines, Ontario
