Minnie Isabel (Dort) Jamieson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Minnie Isabel (Dort) Jamieson, 89 of South River Road, Antigonish formerly of Dort’s Cove on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. Born in Dort’s Cove, Guysborough County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Alice Dort.

She was a resident of Dort’s Cove before moving to Antigonish in 2016 and was employed with Canso Seafoods until retirement. She is survived by her son, Lewis (Beverly) Jamieson, Port Hastings; daughters, Glenda (Gary) Irving, Elmsdale; Carolyn Grover, Frankville and Darlene Jamieson, Peas Brook; grandchildren, Alan, Roderick, Debbie, Bradley, April, Christopher, and Mallory along with several great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. She is also survived by sisters, Rita, Mabel, Sylvia and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband, Lindsay Jamieson, son, Leon, partner, Luke Pellrine, children-in-law, Rodger Grover and Kim Burke; brothers, Fred, Wilbur, Aubrey and sisters, Hazel, Ruby, and Vidy. 

Her happy place was in the kitchen, preparing and sharing with family and friends, lunches out with her lady friends and a good game of radio bingo. She had a razor-sharp wit with a flair to make anyone laugh. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22 from 7 – 9 p.m. in St. James Anglican Church, Halfway Cove. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 23 at St. James Anglican Church with Lay Minister Vonda Card officiating. Burial to follow in the Parish cemetery with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall.  Donations can be made to St. James Anglican Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough.
