Obituary of Terrance Maxwell Ryan

Ryan, Terrance Maxwell "Terry" - 76, West Bay Marshes, passed away peacefully Monday, May 29, 2023 in The Progressive Care Unit of St. Martha's Hospital, Antigonish, NS. Born in Antigonish on March 1, 1947, he was the son of the late Francis and Lorraine (Hodder) Ryan of Port Hawkesbury, NS.

Terry is survived by his son, Garth (Maggie), West Bay Road; daughter, Tanya (Stephen) MacMaster, Port Hastings and grandson John. Also surviving are brothers, David (Phyllis), Shawn (Dana) and sister, Paula (Archie) all of Port Hawkesbury and several nieces and nephews. Also, his special friend Karen. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley; parents, Francis and Lorraine Ryan and brother, Carmen. 

Like many young Maritimers Terry left home at a young age and found many jobs all over Canada. He worked in the Potash Mines in Saskatchewan and the Nickle Mines in Sudbury Ont. He was a travelling soul but his heart was always in Cape Breton and the Port au Port Peninsula, Newfoundland. He returned to work at the Shipyard in Point Tupper, then on to Stora Paper Mill for 30 years from which he retired. Terry was a proficient Welder and no job was too big. He was a perfectionist welder. After he retired, he made many trips to his beloved Port au Port Peninsula, Newfoundland. 

Terry always made people laugh and always had a story to tell. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and most of all his Pet, Lady Bella. 

As per Terry's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral. Donations may be made to The West Bay Road Fire Dept. or Charity of your choice
