Obituary of Doris Marie MacLean

MacLean, Doris Marie It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Marie MacLean of Port Hawkesbury, formerly of Orangedale, Inv. Co., on Friday, April 21, 2023 at the age of 85 years at Strait Richmond Hospital surrounded by her daughters.

Doris is survived by her children, Sharon (Michael), Charlie, David, Darrell (Lisa), Barbara (Richard) and Karen; sister, Beverly McDonald and brother, Michael McNicols of Massachusetts.  Grandchildren, Dori, Sean, Jenna, Jarod, Cameron, Colby and great grandchildren, Brianna, James, Valerie, Steven, Harrison and Colette.  She was predeceased by her husband Edmund Gordon MacLean, sons, Bruce and Kevin and granddaughter, Brittany Nicole MacNeil.

Doris raised a large family of eight children up until they grew up.  Our fondest memories were taking family vacations to Canada to see all our relatives and enjoying the beach, barbeques and summer activities.

Doris worked as a Nursing Assistant for many years at the Jocelyn Diabetic Clinic in Boston and then when they moved back to Cape Breton where she worked as a CCA at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home until she retired.

Doris enjoyed watching Curling, Hockey and Football and enjoyed keeping in touch with her friends, especially Shirley MacKay, her best friend.  She loved talking to her Grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 27 in Orangedale Gillis Cove Cemetery with Margie MacIntyre, LLWL officiating.  A reception will follow in Smith Community Center, Orangedale. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
