Obituary of Laurie Joseph Arthur Pitre
Pitre, Laurie Joseph Arthur - Creignish Rear, Inverness Co. It is with great sadness that we announce to his community the passing of Laurie Joseph Arthur Pitre, at the age of 68. Laurie died at home, in Creignish Rear, on Sunday, April 9th, 2023 with his wife, Phyllis; daughter, Courtney and daughter-in-law, Bella.
Laurie is pre-deceased by his mother, Claire (Cormier) Pitre and father, Edmond Pitre; brother, Alphonse Pitre. He is survived by his siblings, George (Pauline), Alyre (June), Joe (Rose), Harvey (Patsy), Norma (Wayne), Eva (Joe), Jerome (Priscilla) and he was a favorite uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Laurie was an active member of the Port Hastings Fire Department, Ground Search and Rescue, the Royal Canadian Legion, Evergreen Club, Knights of Columbus and anywhere else where he was needed. He entertained and played music at nursing homes, community events and family gatherings. Laurie was always proud of his role as bus driver with the Strait Regional Center for Education.
Laurie will always be remembered for his kind heartedness, his friendly disposition, his jokes, and the fact that he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
Visiting hours will take place on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 17th from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Joby Augustin and Deacon Berkley Guthro officiating.
