Obituary of Sheila Mary Murphy

Sheila Mary (Campbell) Murphy - age 85, Port Hawkesbury. Passed away at the RK MacDonald Nursing Home in Antigonish on March 20, 2023. Born in Dominion, Sheila was the daughter of the late Leo and Tena (MacLeod) Campbell.

Sheila moved to Port Hawkesbury with her husband Jim and young family in 1960. Staying at home for many years to raise her family she eventually returned to work with the opening of SAERC and retired from there in 2000. Sheila was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish and loved her years in the Choir.  She also spent many years as part of both the Port Hawkesbury Volunteer Fire Department's Ladies' Auxiliary and the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 43, Port Hawkesbury, Ladies' Auxiliary.  

Sheila is survived by her daughters, Cathy (Donald) MacDonald, Port Hawkesbury; Tina (Kevin) MacMaster, Troy; sons, Steven (Lynn), Windsor, Ont.; Jimmie (Gisele), Barrie, Ont.; John (Rose), Havre Boucher; Kevin (Sherry), Fort St. John, BC; Bernard Terrance (Cate), North Sydney; Glen (Robin), Port Hawkesbury; brother Johnny (Betty), Dominion and brother in law Leroy Stoyles, Grand Mira North. Grandchildren, Daniel (Jenn), Kristine, Brad (Kelsi), Charlene (Jason), Eryn, James, Mary Alyx, Kerryann, Christopher, Gabriel, Julie, Andy, Joseph, Malcolm, Matthew, Breton, Gabriel, Rowan, Shaelyn and Robert, and 7 great-grandchildren. Sheila will also be missed by Sharon, Madonna, and Leanne, many nieces and nephews and extended family members.  Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Jim (2014), stepmother Jackie, brothers, Leo, Art, Terry & Georgie sisters Catherine & Josephine, step siblings Mickie & Frankie and daughter in law Bernadette. 

The Family would like to thank the RK MacDonald staff for all the care and love they have shown to both Sheila and her family over the last few years. 

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 27th at the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 28th at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Joby and Deacon Berkley officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Sheila can be made to St. Joseph Parish Vision 2020, Lights of Love at the RK MacDonald’s Nursing home or a charity of your choice.
