David Lewis Dort

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of David “Ducky” Dort. He passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2023 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital at the age of 71.

David was born to the late Foster Gordon Dort and Clarice Gwendolyn (Lewis) Dort on May 22, 1951. He is survived by his loving wife Laura Mae (Benoit) Dort, after 34 wonderful years together. He was the father of daughters Julie Marie and Carrie Leanne (Stephen) and son Phillip Ross (Sarah). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Alexander James Lewis MacDonald, Maximus Phillip Bray MacDonald, Parker Loraine Dort, Paige Riley Dort, Penny Jean Dort and Eli Peter Dort. David will also be missed by his brother, Tim (Hilda), his sister Heather (Kevin), his nieces and nephews, and his special neighbour, Jennie. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his brother Stephen and his baby sister Melinda.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Guysborough Legion on Saturday, March 25 from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Guysborough Memorial Hospital or St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com.
