Mel Well well well What have we here Hidden behind drawn curtins, two excited, frightened and slightly scared kids. With smiles on our faces and worry that we are being traced, Amy and Andy hid with everything concealed but just their lids Mel played along as he pretended to be blind. As the two of us giggled and laughed from behind. Eventually he caught us and a laughter erupted. Uncle Mel appeared uninterrupted. He made our childhood fun and something to remember. The ghost stories he told were rooted in love, fun and tender Mel will me missed by his Ontario family members; Mary (mamma), Harold (daddad), Steve, Linda, Bill, Natalie, Amy, Larissa, Braiden, Andy, Laura & Brett and Jude Chisholm

To Mel's brothers and sisters and family and Aunt Gertie Carr, my sincere sympathy. Mel as a friend to everyone he met and always had a smile and a joke. He enoyed life and often spoke to me of his family, especially Gertie and Robbie. He will be missed by many. .

Q: How did you meet Melvin? A: I met Mel through Gertie and he later cut my hair, which continued for many years. He was always amazed that I did not have grey hair yet. He was a professional in his field and a friend in life's journey. Sympathy to Gertie and Mel's family

It was with sadness that I learned of Mel’s passing when speaking with my Mom in Hadleyville this week. Memories of Mel are scattered throughout one’s life’s journey along The Shore Road. Having gone to school with his nephews Frank and Rob, as well as having past extended family connections with the Haywood family, my younger years were interspersed with shared gatherings when Mel’s personality would rise to the fore. His shared humour made one feel welcome. It is hoped that his extended Family and Friends will be able to safely gather and to share the memories and adventures that Mel has shared with and instilled in them during his time with you all. May he rest in peace. God bless.
