Obituary of Marie Agnes Campbell
With heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Marie Campbell, age 77, on Friday, February 3 at Milford Haven Home for Special Care in Guysborough, Nova Scotia.
Marie was born and grew up in West Bay Road, the only daughter of Donald and Florence Howlett. She moved to Toronto at a young age and met her husband Len and started her family there. After many years in Ontario, they returned to their beloved Island and resided in West Bay and eventually, Big Bras D’or.
Marie was a loving daughter, wife, and mother. She loved music and animals and could be found at many a bingo game with her friends. She devoted her life to her family and strongly believed that a cup of tea could fix anything. Her door was always open, and she loved to visit and laugh with friends and family alike.
Marie was an only child and predeceased by her parents and husband. She leaves behind her children and grandchildren and will be forever loved and missed by her daughters Arlene (Joe) and Linda, as well as her grandchildren, Alex and Leah.
She will be fondly remembered by many cousins, extended family and cherished friends.
Marie fought a long and brave battle with early on-set dementia. The family would like to thank the staff of Milford Haven for their wonderful care over the past 5 years. They were the family that our Mom came to know and with both daughters living far away, they were invaluable.
There will be no visitation or service by request. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville Street, Port Hawkesbury. Marie will be laid to rest with Len at the family plot in Big Bras D’or this summer at a private ceremony.
In lieu of condolences, the family asks that you make yourself a good strong cup of tea and remember Marie as she was, and the good times that you shared with her. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
