Obituary of Mary Agnes MacLeod
MacLeod, Mary Agnes - Port Hawkesbury.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Mary Agnes (MacLellan) MacLeod which occurred Thursday January 26,2023 at her daughter Hughina's home surrounded by loved ones. Mom was born in Antigonish NS or as she always called it "God's Country", to the late Ronald and Christine (Chisholm) MacLellan August 4, 1938. Mom was known for her hard work ethic and her amazing biscuits. She had a very special place in her heart for children and camping-when you put the two together, she was in her glory. Mom was known as The Mayor of the Ceilidh Cottages in South West Mabou by her camping family which grew larger and larger over the last 30+ years she spent there, some of her fondest memories are from her summers in Mabou. Mom would start the countdown for her next camping season on closing day. Her quick wit and contagious laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew her well or just in passing. Mom truly believed in these words - My children are my rainbow and my grandchildren are my pot of gold. She adored her children but her grandchildren were her prized possessions- she loved all of you dearly and was so proud of each and every one of you.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our love and appreciation to our sister Hughina and her husband John for their undying love and dedication in the care that was required, from taking her to every appointment through her journey and for opening their loving home when she needed to be surrounded by love and care. What you guys did for our mother and grandmother will never be forgotten by any one of us who loved her so much - you both made her feel so loved, provided a lot of laughter, and so much happiness, right up until her final day. We would also like to extend a special thank you to our Palliative team; Dr. Cooper, Kyla MacKeigan, Paula Fraser, and Leanne Graham - there are no real words to express how much you all helped with this journey- it was such a sad time but they were able to make us feel at ease every step of the way.
