MacDonald, Christena ‘Jean’ – Age 83 years, of St. Peter’s, Richmond Co. With heavy hearts we are announcing the passing of our beloved “Nanny” Jean (Laidlaw) MacDonald of St. Peter’s on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston.

Jean was loved by many and through her 36 year career as a teacher, she made many friends and impacted many lives. Jean loved cooking, travelling and visits from friends and family. A well-known animal lover, Jean could often be seen taking a drive through town with her dog, Bubba or feeding treats to the neighborhood dogs.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Linda (Joe), Debbie; son, Buddy; sister, Margaret Ashford; grandchildren, Mark (Ashley), Michael (Laura), Evan and Christina; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Chloe. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Bryce; infant son, Charles and her parents, John Allen and Anna Laidlaw.

We would like to thank the staff at the Strait Richmond Hospital and Lena MacDonald for their care and compassion.

Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m., Friday, January 27 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 26 Centennial Street, St Peter’s. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 28 in St. Peter’s United Church with Pastor Keith Wiseman officiating.
