With broken hearts we announce the death of Duncan Daniel Cameron at the RK MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish, on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the age of 95.

Dad was born in Mabou, he was a son of the late Alex “the painter” and Mary Anne (MacDonald).  With his family, he moved to Port Hawkesbury in 1938 where he resided until moving to the RK MacDonald Nursing Home in September of this year.

He worked for many years "on the railroad" with CN and retired from the Maintenance Department of the Inverness District School Board in 1992.

A man of devout faith, Dad was a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

Dad was a natural story-teller who loved sharing tales of days gone by with everyone.

He is survived by his daughters, Sheila (Charlie) MacDonald, Middle Sackville and Jo ann (Justin) Hawley, Port Hawkesbury.  His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Daniel and Jessica MacDonald and Maegen and Kayla MacLean.  He is also survived by his brothers Dougald (Florence), West Bay Road; Roy, Antigonish; and Alexander (Judy) North Grant; special cousin Mary (Jimmy) MacDonald, Creignish and many adoring nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Kay (MacMullin); brothers Angus, John and Colin and sisters Kaye MacEachen and Mary MacNeil.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, with his nephew Father Allan MacMillan officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
