AGNES WINNIFRED O’CONNOR (WHITE)
DECEMBER 2, 1931 - APRIL 5, 2022
The family of Agnes Winnifred O’Connor "Aggie" are saddened to announce the death of their mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother on April 5, 2022 in Guysborough at the age of 90. She was born to the late Edward and Mary (Kelly) White on December 2, 1931 in Salmon River/Erinville, Guysborough County. She married Bernard J. O’Connor in 1954. She is survived by 12 children; Rev. Anthony O’Connor, Kevin (Theresa), Bernadette (Ervin) Murray, John (Mary Lou), Ronnie (late Terra), Gerald, Brian (Dale), Maureen (Paul) Long, Carol Ann (Paul) Snider, Michael (Laura), Danny (Janet), and Glenn (Vanessa).
She was very proud of her 33 grandchildren and will be dearly missed by: Reggie, Deidra, Ryan, Heather, Jonathan, Patrick, Katie, Sean, Carolyn, Colin, Danielle, Rhonda, Bernie, Shane, Lindsay, Matthew, Amanda, Christopher, Nicholas, Rory, Aaron, Hannah, Timmy, Tyler, Marilyn, Joseph, Shannon, Kathleen, Emily, Maureen, Brigid, Michael, and Liam.
She is also survived by 31 great-grandchildren: Brayden, Gavin, Emerson, Cian, Kennan, Logan, Lexi, Murray, Rory, Mary, Iain, Ronan, Ellie, Zoey, Connor, Rygel, Talon, Gunner, Molly, William, Jameson, Hannon, Maevon, Dakota, Sophie, Violet, Emily, Genevieve, Emmett, Natalie, and Brooklyn.
\In her early years she worked as a telephone operator and these skills served her well as the center of family communications.
With a large family and lots of work on the family farm, she still found time for much volunteer work, such as 4H leader and palliative care volunteer. She served as a member of the St. Patrick’s Altar Society, liturgy, and religious education committees. She also received a life membership from the Guysborough Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was proud of her wreath making skills and generously donated them.
She is survived by her sister Mary Margaret Maynard, sisters-in-law, Marguerite White, Josie O’Connor, Betty (Sam) Crowshaw, and brother-in-law Kenneth Connolly. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard in 1989, brother Rich White, sister Anne Fraser, sisters-in-law Evelyn O’Connor, Margaret Connolly, Kay Fitzpatrick, and brothers-in-law Dave, John, Joe, Lawrence O’Connor, Donald Fraser, and Bob Fitzpatrick.
Special thanks to the staff of Milford Haven Nursing Home in Guysborough, for the compassionate and loving care shown to Mom over the past 4 years. We are also grateful for the professional care provided by the Staff of Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Ranjini.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 8th from 2-4 and 6-9 pm in St. Patrick’s Hall, Guysborough Intervale. Funeral will be Saturday, April 9th at 11 a.m. at S.t Patrick’s Hall with Rev. Anthony O’Connor, assisted by Rev. Danny MacLennan and Rev. Callistus Abazie.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Aggie can be made to Guysborough Memorial Hospital Foundation or St. Patrick’s Parish Building Fund. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
