Fitzgerald, Mildred Ann (Flavin) Guysborough, age 88 It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Millie Fitzgerald, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Millie passed away at the Guysborough Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at the age of 88, with her family by her side. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sandra (Cameron) Sullivan, Truro; Judy Sullivan, Truro; Tim, Boylston; Gerald Jr. (Rose), Guysborough; Pamela and Angela, both of Halifax; as well as 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Millie is also survived by her brother, Roddy (Betty) Flavin, New Glasgow; and her sister, Irene (Kenny) MacDonald, Barrie, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Gerald; first-born son, Kevin; brothers, Francis, Gerald, Charlie and Lorne; sisters, Mary, Jean and Marie; and beloved son-in-law, Gerald Sullivan. Millie was born in Guysborough in 1933 to the late Nick and Mabel Flavin. She met and married her husband, Gerald, and they began their family in Halifax, later settling in Guysborough. Millie was an active volunteer in the community. She was an avid curler and bowler and she enjoyed playing cards and bingo with family and friends. Her other pastimes included knitting and quilting, and she often donated her beautiful hand-made quilts to charitable events and fundraisers. Millie was a devoted Catholic and a long-standing member of St. Ann’s Parish and Ladies’ Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 81 Ladies’ Auxiliary in Guysborough. The family would like to thank Dr. Ranjini and all of the nurses at the Guysborough Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion they showed our mother during her illness. There will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 in St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial to follow in the Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Millie can be made to the Guysborough Memorial Hospital.
