MacRitchie Allister Campbell -83 Little Narrows , Victoria Co. died Sunday Jan. 21, 2007, peacefully in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, following a brief illness. Born in Portage, Inverness Co. he was the eldest son of Murdoch Angus and Alexandrina “Alena” (Campbell) MacRitchie. Allister was a loyal employee of the Little Narrows Gypsum Co. Ltd. For 42 years. He enjoyed each and every day he went there because of all the people who worked with him. He truly enjoyed a challenging game of checkers, especially when he was winning. As well as working full time Allister always managed to keep a farm which he truly enjoyed and at the same time was a devoted and loving family man. In his younger years Allister served in the army in Aldershot, NS. He was also well known for his gentle love of horses and spent many winter days snigging logs out. He was a devoted member of the Little Narrows Presbyterian Church. He is survived by loving wife of 54 years, Margaret (MacLeod); daughters; Anne (Lawrence) MacNeil, Ottawa Brook; Jeanie (Robert) MacKinnon, Eureka, Pictou Co.. Allister was known as a true “gentle man” and no one knew this better than his 6 loving grand children whom he adored. Laura and Rachael MacNeil; Ceilidh, Reilly, Lauchlin, Cullan MacKinnon; sisters Margaret Logue, Downsview, ON; Kathleen MacLean, Little Narrows; Mary (Clarence) Roberts, Baddeck; brothers Norman (Barbara), Toronto; Lloyd (Elsie), Baddeck; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by sisters; Florence Houchin, Carolyn MacDonald, and Mildred Ellis. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Little Narrows Presbyterian Church, Lydia MacKinnon officiating, with burial in the Little Narrows cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Victoria County Memorial Hospital Foundation , The Healing Garden, or the Little Narrows Presbyterian Church cemetery fund.
