WATERS, Winston Tabor "Butch" – 72, Sydney, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2014, after a short battle with cancer in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Inverness, he was a son of the late Cecil and Georganna (Beaton) Waters.
Butch worked his whole life as a heavy duty equipment mechanic and was retired from Nova Scotia Power. He spent his years since retirement with his wife and spending time in his garage restoring antique vehicles and spending time with his many friends. Surviving are his wife, Frances (MacKinnon); daughter, Christa Waters (Cheryl), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Russell, Matteo, Avery; stepson, Kelly (Leanne); granddaughter, Jessica; grandson, Shamus; sister, Marylee (Bobby) Morrison, Blues Mills; sister-in-law, Tene Waters, Blues Mills; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Albert "Abbie" Waters, and a brother in infancy.
There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2014, from Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh with Rev. Chris Matheson officiating. Burial will follow in Stewartdale Cemetery. A reception will follow in Cameron Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the I.W.K. Health Care Foundation or to Stewartdale Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
