SCRANTON, Rodney John Clare - 72, Manchester, Guysborough Co., went home to his Lord on January 20, 2005, after many years of Parkinson's disease and after a short stay in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Johnny was a son of the late May (Scranton) MacKay. He is survived by his faithful and devoted wife of 31 years, Louise (Venedam); sister, Margaret (David) O'Riley; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Johnny enjoyed Newfie dances, bingo and exchanging 'tales' with his many friends. His jobs over the years included farming, working with freight boats in Mulgrave, the heavy water plant in Port Hawkesbury, and lastly working at St. F.X. Visitation will be in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 24, at 2 p.m. in Boylston United Church, Rev. Leonard Oracheski officiating. Burial at a later date in the church cemetery. Donations in Johnny's memory may be made to Guysborough Memorial Hospital or a charity of your choice.
