STRACHAN, Eugene 'Gillis' - 75, Mulgrave, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 10, 2005. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Philip and Molly (O'Neil) Strachan. Gillis was a retired CNR/VIA Rail employee who enjoyed enhancing the beauty of the earth. Gillis and Yvonne were long-time members of St. Lawrence Parish and choir. To Gillis, singing was a gift to be shared. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Digout); sister, Sister Imelda, CND, Montreal; brothers-in-law, Danny Digout (Carmy), Lower Sackville; Pat Maher, England; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Davis; sister, Lorna Nicol. Visitation was held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, with funeral mass 2 p.m. today in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave, Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial in parish cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to Mulgrave and Area Resting Place.
