STRACHAN, Eugene 'Gillis' - 75, Mulgrave, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 10, 2005. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Philip and Molly (O'Neil) Strachan. Gillis was a retired CNR/VIA Rail employee who enjoyed enhancing the beauty of the earth. Gillis and Yvonne were long-time members of St. Lawrence Parish and choir. To Gillis, singing was a gift to be shared. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Digout); sister, Sister Imelda, CND, Montreal; brothers-in-law, Danny Digout (Carmy), Lower Sackville; Pat Maher, England; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Davis; sister, Lorna Nicol. Visitation was held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, with funeral mass 2 p.m. today in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave, Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial in parish cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
