STRACHAN, John Coleman 'Buddy' - 79, Mulgrave, died Monday, January 9, 2006, in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born in Mulgrave, he was a son of the late John O. and Clara (McMillan) Strachan. Buddy was a retired 38 year employee of the CNR. He was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Mulgrave, a member of Chedabucto Curling Club, Boylston, and an active member of Guysborough Seniors. He was an avid curler and also enjoyed golf. Surviving are daughters, Rosaline (Richard) Bennett, Havre Boucher; Lillian (Fred) Nicolle, Kentville; Mary (Richard) Fredericks, Fort McMurray, Alta.; Rhonda, at home; son, John (Joanne), New Glasgow; sisters, Nora (Jack) Taplin, Halifax; Sister Mary Strachan, CND, Holy Redeemer Convent, Sydney; Claire (Larry) Murphy, Halifax; grandchildren, Jason, Shawn, Kelly, Kathy, Mary, Brian, Shelley, Michael, Nelson, Richa; great-grandchildren, Karly, Calem, Braeden, Anna, and Taylor. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna (Ryan); brothers, Walter, James, Duncan.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Buddy may be made to the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
