SNYDER, William Eldon - 86, Peas Brook, Guysborough Co., died Wednesday, May 10, 2006, in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born in Peas Brook, he was a son of the late John and Mary Catherine (George) Snyder. Bill was a retired fisherman and woodsman, and a member of St. James Anglican Church, Halfway Cove. Bill was known locally as a jack-of-all-trades. He thoroughly enjoyed gardening, whittling with wood and music. Most of all, he loved family reunions. He is survived by his loving wife, Daisy (Gammon); daughter, Ida (Kenneth) Zinck, Southwest Cove; sons, Harold (Nina) Dort, Wyses Corner, Halifax Co.; Albert (Linda), Peas Brook; Edward (Sandra) and Anthony, both of Cooks Brook, Halifax Co.; Simon, Guysborough; sister, Viola Snyder, Guysborough; brother, Allan, Cooks Cove, Guysborough Co.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter, Margaret Mikkelson; sisters, Elizabeth Plante, Amanda Richardson; brothers, Albert and Charles. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in St. James Anglican Church, Halfway Cove, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Rev. Tory Byrne officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Reception to follow in the church hall. Donations in memory of Bill may be made to Canadian Cancer Society. A special thank you to the nursing staff of Twin Oaks Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour and Guysborough Memorial Hospital; also to his caregivers, Albert and Linda Snyder.
