Snow, Lohnes Wilfred--75 died Saturday, June 3rd 2006 at St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Half Island Cove, Guys. Co. he was a son of the late Wilfred and Liza (Greencorn ) Snow. A member of St. Lawrence parish , Mulgrave Lohnes was a hard worker all his life and worked at Acadia Fisheries, Mulgrave. Then he became a stevedore on the Halifax waterfront. Lohnes was also employed as a linesman for F. K. Warren Ltd., Gulf oil Refinery, Point Tupper from its opening until its closing. He then went on to become a lobster fisherman peddling his daily catch of fresh fish. In the 70's he operated a bottle exchange and became well known around the four counties for his fresh fish and bottle pick up services. Lohnes loved a good time, dancing, and was an avid card player. He is survived by his companion Lillian Torrey; daughters, Kathy (Greg ) Fitzpatrick ; Karen (Steve )Hoben, both of Mulgrave; Kelly Snow, Fort McMurry, AB.; sisters, Ruth Richardson, Manassette Lake; Florence ( Gerald ) Bennett, Canso; brothers, Fred ( Shirley ); Clarence ( Alvina ) both of Mulgrave ; Grandchildren, Kyla and Justin Hoben; Lindsey and Jeffrey MacInnis; Madison and Haley Ehler and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by step-mother Lola Snow; brothers, Neil Snow; Ed Greencorn; sister, Blanche Greencorn.
Visitation for Lohnes will be held 2-9 pm today in the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11am Tuesday June 6th in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Donations may be made to Mulgrave and Area Resting Place or charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
